Holy Orders

The Sacrament of Holy Orders in the Catholic Church is a sacred rite through which men are ordained to serve in God’s ministry. It continues the priesthood of Jesus Christ, entrusted by Him to His Apostles. Only a baptized Catholic man, deemed suitable by the Church, can receive Holy Orders. During the ordination, the bishop places his hands on the head of the candidate and invokes the Holy Spirit to guide and empower him for his ministry.
