Anointing The Sick

The Sacrament of Holy Orders at Syro-Malabar Church, Wagga Wagga

The Sacrament of Holy Orders is a sacred rite in the Catholic Church through which men are ordained to serve in God’s holy ministry. This sacrament continues the priesthood of Jesus Christ, entrusted by Him to His Apostles, and ensures that His mission and service continue in the Church today.

At Syro-Malabar Church, Wagga Wagga, only baptized Catholic men, found suitable by the Church, are eligible to receive Holy Orders. During the ordination ceremony, the bishop lays his hands on the head of the candidate and invokes the Holy Spirit to guide, strengthen, and empower him for his priestly ministry in the Church and community.

Through this sacred sacrament, the ordained are called to serve God and His people with devotion, love, and fidelity, continuing Christ’s mission of salvation.
